Basic Computer Education

Many schools teach computer classes and some schools even require a basic computer course. However there is something very important lacking in these basic computer courses, they do not tell you about computers, but tend to teach on how to use a basic word proccessor, excel, and other tools and programs. The next step up is generally a specializing class, such as multimedia or desktop publishing, or computer science.

In no class, do they address basic computer maintenance and security. They do not teach you about what the parts of a computer are, or even that there is a such thing as an OS beyond Apple, and not apple. They teach one suite of applications or tools.

So I intend to write a small series of posts, a guide to the computer. Basic computer skills, 101. I hope to address many of those gaps that many computer users do not know. Comp 101. Look for it over the next week.
